Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. A child of Irish origins, who was surrounded she was by gifted parents, and her family, this came naturally. Maureen came to this loving haven, August 17, 1920. She was raised by her parents and family members. Marguerita FitzSimons was an accomplished contralto. Her father, Charles FitzSimons, managed a business in Dublin and also owned part of the famous Irish soccer team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons first FitzSimons children. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen loved playing rough sporting games in her youth and was a pro in athletics. Her ability to perform perfectly complemented her passion for sports. It was evident that she was the winner of every Feis in drama and theatre that Ireland had to provide. Her acceptance at the Abbey Theater by age 14, and she was able to fulfill her goals of opera as well as classical theatre and singing.
